The Proposed Scotchman Peak's Wilderness

Scotchman's Peak Trail #65 Spring-Summer-Fall Very Difficult
As you are driving through Clark Fork, look off to the left (north) and you will see Scotchman's Peak sticking up into the clouds. Scotchman's Peak is a test piece for serious hikers to see if they are in shape for big mountains.
Once in Clark Fork turn left (north) on Main Street which becomes Forest Road #276 for 2.5 miles. At the fork turn right onto a logging road and continue 1 mile to Road 2294A. After ½ a mile turn left onto Road 1058 for 2 miles. Turn left and drive 1 miles to the trailhead.
Scotchman's Peak Trail #65 is uphill for nearly 3800 vertical feet in 4 miles. Once you get close to the ridge line, be very quiet as you approach the ridge and sneak up to it, to catch a glimpse of Mountain Goats that hang out on the face of Scotchman's. After enjoying the goats, head to the top for panoramic views of Pend Oreille Lake, the Clark Fork Valley, the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness, and the Proposed Scotchman Peak's Wilderness to the north.

Cool things to see: 360 degree views from summit, Mountain Goats, views of the Clark Fork River, views of the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness and Pend Oreille Lake.
